Pakistani singer Shae Gill, who sang the popular song Pasoori with Ali Sethi, has opened up about the Pasoori recreation that was recently released as a part of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film Satyaprem Ki Katha. Taking to her Instagram stories, Shae said that decision about the recreation wasn’t hers as she does not own the song or the rights. She added that she appreciates all the love that people have for the original song, but they shouldn’t be hateful towards the new version. And if the listeners don’t like the new song, they should perhaps not listen to it.

Shae said that she found out about the recreation through her followers. “I actually found out about the remake through you guys but also, I wanted to talk about all of the hate that people have been sending towards the new song. I understand that you all love the original Pasoori so much and I am so grateful for all the love. I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am but also at the same time I don’t want you to be sending hate to someone else,” she said.

Shae Gill said that people should “look at it as a rendition rather than a remake”. She added, “And if it’s something you don’t like at all then I would say don’t listen to it. Instead of sending hate, don’t listen to it because not liking something and talking about it in your home is still fine but if you are publicly humiliating and insulting someone then it’s not very nice, is it?”

Ever since the new version of Pasoori, sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar, dropped online, the audience has been expressing their displeasure towards it. Earlier, in a chat with News 18, composer Rochak Kohli said that Arijit Singh and Ali Sethi had expected such reactions for the new version. “Even before we created the remake, everyone including Ali and Arijit expected such reactions because it is like disrupting something that has been done really well. So the initial reactions were only on the idea that Pasoori was being recreated as many hadn’t even heard the song. We launched the song on Monday morning and we received a lot of hatred. As people are listening to it, their reactions are turning positive and are saying that this isn’t as bad as we expected,” he said.
