Nitesh Tiwari is confident his Ramayan won’t offend anyone: ‘If I’m not going to offend myself…’
Nitesh Tiwari is going ahead with his plan to make a film based on Ramayan. The filmmaker is confident that he will not offend anyone.

After Adipurush, it is going to be difficult for any Indian filmmaker to attempt a film based on Ramayan. With the many controversies that erupted soon after the release of the Om Raut film, it is going to be difficult for any filmmaker to make a movie based on the mythological epic anytime soon but it seems like Nitesh Tiwari is going ahead with his plan of bringing it to the big screen. In a recent interview, the Dangal director opened up about his film and also spoke about the casting of the film.
In a chat with Zoom Entertainment, Nitesh was asked about his idea to take up Ramayan in the current climate, post Adipurush, and the filmmaker said, “My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I’m not going to offend myself than I’m very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else.”
It was previously rumoured that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor could play the lead roles of Sita and Ram in the film. As of now, there has been no official announcement about it, and when asked about it, the filmmaker said, “Very soon.”
Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, released in theatres in June to bad reviews. Soon after the film’s release, its visual effects and dialogues by Manoj Muntashir were severely criticised. Although the makers changed the dialogues after the first weekend of the film, the damage was already done as the footfalls in the theatres kept dropping in the subsequent weeks.
Recently, Manoj Muntashir apologised for Adipurush and admitted that the audience’s emotions were hurt by the film. He shared on Twitter, “I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.🙏”
