Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were the first guests on the season eight premiere of Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan, and on the episode, the couple opened up about how they fell in love. Ranveer narrated a rather cinematic story about his first meeting with Deepika at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s house, but netizens were quick to notice the similarities between the way he described this meeting to what he’d said about his first meeting with Anushka Sharma at YRF studios many years ago.
Ranveer described Deepika looking like ‘saadgi ki moorat’ and how a gush of wind from the sea made her look ‘angelic’ as she opened the bulky door of Sanjay’s house. He had previously described how Anushka opened the giant door at one of the offices in YRF studios and a gush of wind left her hair flowing. Ranveer and Anushka were rumoured to be dating each other when the two appeared on the third season of Koffee with Karan back in 2011. Ranveer and Anushka were co-stars in his debut film, Band Baaja Baaraat, and were later co-stars in films like Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Dil Dhadakne Do.

Just a year after his appearance on Koffee with Karan with Anushka, Ranveer started dating Deepika. The two met during the making of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and got married in 2018.
On his recent appearance on Karan’s show, Ranveer said that just six months after meeting Deepika, he knew that she was “the one.” He also revealed that the couple was secretly engaged for three years before they got married. Ranveer proposed to Deepika in the Maldives at a secluded beach and was over the moon when she accepted. Deepika shared on the couch that when they started dating each other, they were not dating exclusively and were also seeing other people. She said, “Until he proposed to me, there was no commitment as such.”
