Neena Gupta on falling for ‘married man with kids’, says she will never give relationship advice: ‘I have always dated wrong people’

Neena Gupta spoke about going to therapy with her husband, Vivek Mehra, and opened up about daughter Masaba's divorce and how it left her "numb."

Interviews of actor Neena Gupta are often filled with poignant life lessons. In a recent conversation, the actor, however, refused to give any dating advice and explained why. She also spoke about going to therapy with her husband, Vivek Mehra, and opened up about daughter Masaba’s divorce and how it left her “numb.”

Speaking about going to therapy, Neena told Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, “I went to therapy once. When I met my now husband, he was already married and with kids, so there were a lot of problems. So, one time we went to couple’s therapy.” Revealing that it is healthy to talk, even if it is to yourself, Neena said, “I can talk to a wall also.”

When asked to give relationship advice to her fans, Neena immediately refused, and said, “I am the wrong person to give relationship advice. I have always dated wrong people. Please don’t ask me because I will give a very stupid and bad answer.”

The actor also shared the mistake she made with regards to her daughter Masaba’s first marriage with Madhu Mantena, and said, “Masaba didn’t want to marry initially. She wanted to stay in a live-in relationship with her future husband. But I was like, “No, you will not shift with him. You get married.’ It was a mistake, they separated. I was devastated, I never imagined this because my husband and I both loved and still love her ex-husband. He is a really nice man and nahi bani toh nahi bani (If they didn’t get along, they didn’t get along). When she told me, I was numb for a month. It was a very difficult time. It’s not in your hands, this is somebody’s else’s life.”

Masaba is the daughter of Neena and West Indies cricket legend Vivian Richards. Neena and Vivian never got married, and Masaba was raised by Neena in India. Masaba married Madhu Mantena in 2015, but their marriage ended in 2019. Masaba subsequently married actor Satyadeep Mishra on January 27, 2023, who portrayed her ex-husband in the series Masaba Masaba.
