What does a murderer look like? Wait, what kind of question is that? Do murderers share any similarity in terms of how they look? Absolutely not. They are ordinary people, just like all of us. Yes, this could also mean that the one sitting next to us, having a laugh, could be congratulating themselves for the murder they committed, silently saying, “Murder Mubarak (Congratulations on Murder).”

With a baffling crime and seven suspects at the center, director Homi Adajania’s upcoming mystery thriller Murder Mubarak is gearing up for release and the trailer, unveiled by the makers on Tuesday, suggests that the film will be a comedic riot.

The nearly three-minute trailer follows a simple premise: A murder has happened at the Royal Delhi Club, and ACP Bhavani Singh has the impossible task of finding the killer. The only problem? Every member is a suspect. Moving like an Agatha Christie film adaptation, the trailer sets up the outlandish world of the film, where dark comedy meets murder.

Homi Adajania’s sixth directorial after the Irrfan Khan-starrer Angrezi Medium (2020), Murder Mubarak boasts a stellar cast comprising Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Suhail Nayyar.

Penned by Gazal Dhaliwal and Suprotim Sengupta, the mystery thriller is bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, marking the company’s second production venture this year after Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.

Murder Mubarak will premiere on Netflix on March 15.
