Moushumi Chatterjee recalls how Rishi Kapoor had said she and him would never get awards: ‘We are too blunt’

Speaking to Lehren TV, the artiste recalled how Rishi Kapoor, with whom she had shared screen in multiple projects, had once remarked that both he and Chatterjee would never get any awards since they were brutally honest for some people’s liking: “Rishi Kapoor used to say, ‘Moti (because I was pregnant at the time of shooting with him), you and I are never gonna get any awards, because we are too blunt.”

Moushumi Chatterjee had not only worked with Rishi, but with Shashi Kapoor as well, whom she used to address as ‘uncle’ as they knew each other from before, since Moushumi’s father-in-law was Hemant Kumar, the late music director and singer. But once when they had to share screen with each other as romantic leads, Shashi felt uncomfortable with how she would call him ‘uncle’ on set and asked her to address him a little differently.

Recalling the incident, the actor said, “I used to call Shashi Kapoor Shashi uncle and he asked me not to call him uncle, said either call me Shashi ji or Shashi baba. I said, ‘Okay, will call you Shashi ji then.’”

Shashi Kapoor and Moushumi Chatterjee had worked together on the 1980 movie Swayamvar.
