Mission Raniganj motion poster: Akshay Kumar to recreate Jaswant Singh Gill’s heroic act of saving 65 trapped miners
Akshay Kumar has shared the motion poster of his upcoming film Mission Raniganj, which is inspired by the heroic act of late Jaswant Singh Gill who led "India's first coal mine rescue mission".

Akshay Kumar comes to the rescue again, and this time he is saving 65 miners trapped 350 feet deep in rubble. The actor shared a motion poster of his upcoming movie Mission Raniganj, which is inspired by the heroic act of late Jaswant Singh Gill who led “India’s first coal mine rescue mission”. The film’s teaser will be released on Thursday.
Mission Raniganj is based on a real-life incident that occurred in Raniganj Coalfields, West Bengal, in 1989. 64 miners found themselves trapped in a flooded coal mine, and Jaswant Singh risked his own life to save theirs. In the film, Akshay will portray the role of Jaswant.
Akshay shared a motion poster of the movie on Instagram and wrote, “In 1989, one man achieved the impossible! Watch the story of Bharat’s true hero with #MissionRaniganj in cinemas on 6th October. Teaser out tomorrow.”

Mission Raniganj is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, who has previously worked with Akshay Kumar in Rustom. The film features an ensemble cast, including Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt and Omkar Das Manikpuri.
The movie is written by Deepak Kingrani and is scheduled for release on October 6. Akshay is currently basking in the success of OMG 2, which features the actor in an extended special appearance. This success follows a series of five consecutive flops for the actor.
