Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One saw its biggest day on Sunday, which helped it comfortably cruise the Rs 50 cr mark at the Indian box office over its five-day extended weekend. The actioner headlined by Tom Cruise witnessed a solid Rs 17 cr first Sunday, industry tracker Sacnilk reported.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film is the seventh instalment in the Mission Impossible franchise. The film, which released on a Wednesday and saw an opening of Rs 12 cr, has only grown steadily in its collections, which now stand at Rs 63 crore in five days.

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One will now easily cross the 6th installment’s lifetime collection of around 80 crores nett in its first week itself to become the biggest-grossing movie in the franchise as well as Tom Cruise’s career in India, the industry tracker reported.

Dead Reckoning Part One has outperformed recent Hollywood films released in India, like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which debuted with Rs 2 crore, John Wick: Chapter 4 (Rs 10 crore), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Rs 9 crore), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Rs 7.3 crore).

The best performing Hollywood film in India this year has been Fast X, which netted Rs 108 cr in its lifetime. Tom Cruise’s last release, Top Gun: Maverick had netted Rs 34 cr in the country.

While Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One is riding on excellent word of mouth and critical acclaim, the film’s collections will face a dent next Friday when Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer releases.
