Manoj Bajpayee says he purposely failed medical entrance exam; reveals why he feared his mother: ‘She would beat me…’

Talking about the fear of his mother, Manoj shared how his mother would beat him up if he would go to watch a movie. He recalled, “Once I went to watch a film, and I had exams in five days. My mother and father had to come to visit me and they asked me where I was returning from. I said ‘I went to watch a film’. I told them I went to unwind. I was very scared of my mother. Even my father used to get scared of her, so there was nobody who could save me from my mother.”

The actor also recalled his father wanting him to become a doctor. He shared he was scared that if he would give the right answers in the entrance exam, he would become a doctor. “So, for the questions to which I knew the answers, I would hide my face and mark anything. I did that so that I do not give the right answers, else I will have to become a doctor aur actor banne se reh jaunga (my dream of becoming an actor will never be fulfilled).”

Manoj Bajpayee’s mother Geeta Devi passed away in December last year.
