(Photo: Manoj/Instagram)Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who has spent significant periods of his life in both Delhi and Mumbai, spoke about his perception of both mega-cities. In an interview, he said that he loves Delhi, but believes that Mumbai has the better people. He also noted that in Mumbai, even the rich and powerful wouldn’t mind travelling by public transport, whereas in Delhi, people tend to boast about their expensive cars.
Manoj was a prominent member of the Delhi theatre scene before moving to Mumbai and breaking out as a star. Asked about the two cities and what he thinks of them, he said in an appearance on the RealHit YouTube channel, “In Delhi, people say things like, ‘My Audi needs repair’, ‘I’m coming in my Mercedes’. They never say the word ‘car’. In Mumbai, people are so used to seeing all kinds of cars, they’re in an inferiority complex. If they mention that they have a Mercedes, the other guy might say that he has a Maserati.”

He continued, “In Mumbai, even those who drive a Mercedes or a Maserati will never be ashamed of travelling in an auto. Because they know that it’s the quickest way to get from one place to another. Mumbai is a leveller in this regard.” Asked about the people that live in both cities, Manoj said, “Delhi is very beautiful, but the people are better in Mumbai. If they could exchange these two things, it would be amazing.”
Manoj said that in Mumbai, it’s difficult for people to meet often because travelling takes longer. So, they have to make appointments in advance. Whereas in Delhi, he can make impromptu plans to meet people and be there in 15-30 minutes. “That kind of brotherhood isn’t there in Mumbai, because it’s the financial capital for a reason,” he said. “Delhi is circular, you can get from one place to another quicker.” Manoj will soon be seen in the action film Bhaiyya Ji; he has also started filming the third season of Prime Video’s The Family Man.
