Makers of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava release BTS video of ‘Making of a Warrior King’: ‘Every night, I saw new bruises…’

Giving an insight about how he embraced the spirit of Chhaava, Vicky talks about the six months of preparations, and the hours of practicing for horse riding, and weapon handling

When do you know a film is truly a success? More often than not, the collections of the first Monday after release determines the audience’s desire to watch the film. Laxman Utekar’s runaway hit, Chhaava, headlined by Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, made a whopping Rs 24 crore on Monday, which was just Rs 7 crore short of its opening day numbers. Such has been the craze around the film that we are seeing viral videos of people cheering vociferously for the film in the theatres, and people shedding copious tears in the final act of the film, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

The makers have now released a special video that shows how the suave Vicky Kaushal transformed into the regal Maratha warrior. Titled, The Making of a Warrior King, we see Vicky being held with rope wires, and being flung across the frame during those well-designed, and well-performed fights. Giving an insight about how he embraced the spirit of the film, Vicky talks about the six months of preparations, and the hours of practicing for horse riding, and weapon handling.

“We had rigorous training for horse riding, and extensive weapon training. We trained with lathis, swords, and spears too. On each day, we had 6-8 hours of training. Every night I went home, I could see new bruises in my body,’ said Vicky, who revealed that this training gave him discipline in his life.

Apart from these activities, he also had to physically look the part of Sambhaji Maharaj. “One thing was certain… I had to bulk up a lot. I had to gain good muscle mass.” And we see visuals of the physical strain, the sheer scale of the filming, and how Vicky Kaushal has certainly given it his all to play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
