Mahesh Bhatt says his gaze has shifted from Alia Bhatt to Raha, reveals he’d like her to watch Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin: ‘Doting on her more’

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt says the energy in the family has changed ever since his granddaughter Raha was born, as the toddler is the apple of everyone’s eye. Bhatt said the “gaze” has shifted from his actor daughter Alia Bhatt to the granddaughter.

Alia Bhatt got married to actor Ranbir Kapoor in 2022 and became a mother later that year. In an interview with India Today, Mahesh Bhatt was asked how his life had changed since becoming a grandfather. “When I became a grandpa, I woke up to what the entire world has been feeling since the dawn of time,” the veteran filmmaker said in his quintessential, philosophical manner.

“There is already this wonder of your child, hardly have you recovered from the astounding achievement of your child, who is magical, and now one more dimension has been added to her life and that is of motherhood. Not only is she an astounding actor, but now she is also her mother. Then you have a gift from the skies come out of nowhere… To be brutally honest, the gaze then shifts towards the grandchild. Doting on her a little more. Children have that kind of power, to draw you in completely,” he added.

The filmmaker, who has directed more than 50 films in his career spanning five decades, said the one movie he would want Raha to watch when she grows up is Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, starring Pooja Bhatt and Aamir Khan.

“The movie of mine I would like Raha to watch when she grows up is Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahi. It is one of my most heartwarming films, where Pooja and Aamir were fantastic. It was a film that had the resonance of human heart. A film like that would be the right one for her to watch. Also, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke. It is a different kind of a love story” he added.
