Mahesh Bhatt on Alia Bhatt’s Hollywood debut: ‘My heart soars with pride’

Actor Alia Bhatt is all set to make her Hollywood debut with the film Heart of Stone. The trailer, which was unveiled during Netflix’s 2023 Tudum event in Brazil, featured Alia as the main antagonist– Keya Dhawan. Talking about the actor’s big international debut, father, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said that his heart soared with pride when he saw Alia standing with Hollywood actors like Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.

In an interview with ETimes, the veteran filmmaker said, “To stand there without being pygmied by the idea that it is Hollywood, the young of today don’t feel slighted or lesser in any way when it comes to international talent.”

Mahesh Bhatt added, “I once remember asking her, ‘What is it that they (Hollywood) have that we don’t have? And her straight reply was ‘Money’. She said it with great humility.”

Directed by Tom Harper, Heart of Stone will release on Netflix on August 11. The official synopsis of the film reads, “Gal Gadot is Agent Rachel Stone, the only intelligence operative who stands between her global, peace-keeping organization and the loss of its most valuable — and dangerous — asset, codenamed: The Heart.”

Alia Bhatt will next be seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie, also starring Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, will hit screens on July 28.
