Mahesh Bhatt says Anupam Kher still gives him money after every successful film: ‘He has been giving me money since Saaransh’
Mahesh Bhatt said that Anupam Kher still gives him money after every successful film, because he gave the actor his first break in Saaransh.

Mahesh Bhatt famously gave Anupam Kher his first break in the movies with the 1984 film Saaransh, in which the 28-year-old Kher played the role of an older man. In a recent with Arbaaz Khan, Bhatt revealed that Kher still gives him money after every successful film because he was the one who gave him a break. “Anupam still does give me money. The last time he gave me money was after the phenomenal success of The Kashmir Files,” he said.
Mahesh Bhatt launched many new actors in the film industry in the 1980s and 1990s, and Arbaaz asked him about “the cut” that he asks from Anupam Kher and Emraan Hashmi. The Sadak director said that Emraan is a stingy man who just paid him once, but he hasn’t let Anupam off the hook.
Bhatt recalled that when he asked for money after The Kashmir Files’ success, Kher was at a dental clinic and he just showed up there. “I said give me the money and he gave me. He has been giving me money ever since Saaransh became a success and those memories are memories, we must always draw from and not let the ideological differences that create a wedge between us, get the better of us,” he said.
Previously, Anupam Kher spoke about how he was ready to leave the city after Bhatt had fired him from Saaransh even before the shoot started. He went to see Bhatt and cursed him, after which Bhatt, impressed with his passion, rehired him. Kher previously tweeted, “Thank you Mahesh Bhatt saab for your faith in a 28-year-old newcomer in Mumbai and giving him the best role of his life. You changed my life forever. Love and gratitude and much more for a lifetime.”
