Music composer Rajesh Roshan recently opened up about his association with celebrated singer Lucky Ali, describing him as ‘like family.’ He also recalled how Lucky once left home after a fight with his father, legendary actor Mehmood, and sought refuge with him.

In a conversation with Radio Nasha, Rajesh was asked whether Lucky Ali worked as his assistant. He, however, refused to call him that and instead referred to him as a friend. He said, “Lucky Ali was like family. He and his father would fight a lot. Mehmood was a short-tempered person and he wouldn’t listen to anyone. Lucky once came and told me, ‘I have left home and I am not going back.’ He asked me where to go. He was with his guitar. I told him to come with me. He was my friend, not an assistant.”

He added, “He played guitar in my songs, along with other guitarists. At that time, he worked a lot with me.”

In an earlier interaction, Lucky Ali has shared how his father ‘never agreed with his concepts’ when it comes to creativity and arts. Apart from singing, Lucky had also dabbled in acting, but unlike popular belief, he wasn’t welcomed warmly in the film industry and faced faced scrutiny from all those people who had worked with his father. “They took it out all on me. They were like what do you do, are you an actor? Are you a singer? Why do you want to want to do a role in English and things like that,’” he said.

Lucky Ali appeared in films like Yehi Hai Zindagi, Sur – The Melody of Life, and Kaante. However, he is best known for his timeless songs like O Sanam, Kitni Haseen Zindagi, Aa Bhi Ja Aa Bhi Ja, and Safarnama, among others.
