Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is stable and getting better, the actor’s spokesperson said on Thursday evening.

Lata’s spokesperson Anusha Srinivasan Iyer said, “Lata didi is stable and getting better. Request to not pay heed to needless rumours and react. Let us all collectively pray for her long life instead.”

After rumours of the singer’s demise emerged on Thursday, director Madhur Bhandarkar reached out to Lata’s family. He later tweeted, “Just spoke to the family. #LataMangeshkar tai is stable and recovering. My humble request, not to spread baseless rumours and pray for @mangeshkarlata speedy recovery.”

Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital in the early hours of Monday.

Hospital sources told PTI that the singer was admitted to the hospital after she complained of breathing difficulties.

While initial reports suggested Lata Mangeshkar is critical, her family dismissed the reports.

On Thursday afternoon, the family issued a statement about the singer’s health. It read, “Lata didi is stable. The progress is steady and good. We look forward to take her home as she gets well. Thank you for prayers and support.”
