Kriti Sanon says she rang up Alia Bhatt after their National Film Award win: ‘Both of us were too excited’

The 69th National Film Awards, declared on Thursday, saw significant achievements for Hindi cinema. Notably, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon jointly secured the Best Actress award for their performances in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively.

Meanwhile, Kriti recently revealed that she promptly reached out to Alia after the announcement, leading to a heartfelt conversation between them. “I’ve always admired Alia as an actor and she was phenomenal in Gangubai Kathiawadi. We’ve both played the title role in our respective films and it’s a proud moment to be sharing this prestigious award with her! I called her up and both of us were just too excited,” she said during a chat with News18.

Mimi also earned actor Pankaj Tripathi his first National Film Award, in the Best Supporting Actor category. “My excitement was doubled when I saw Pankaj ji has won for Mimi too. I called him up and we spoke. He’s visiting his hometown right now. I’ve great regard for him. He’s one of my most favourite co-stars and I truly always wish and pray for the best for him. I’m so happy that he’s getting all the love and validation he truly deserves,” Kriti said, commenting on Pankaj’s win.

Soon after the award win, Kriti took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt note thanking all those who helped her achieve the honour. “Elated – overwhelmed – grateful. Still sinking it in… pinching myself… this has actually happened! The National Award for Best Actress for Mimi! Thank you to the jury who considered my performance worthy of the most prestigious award! It means the world to me!”

Kriti Sanon visits Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai

After her first National Film Award win, Kriti Sanon visited the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai and offered prayers. In a video, Kriti is captured visiting the temple along with her parents and sister, Nupur Sanon.

Both Kriti and Nupur were also seen sharing sweets with journalists and fans who were present there. The also posed for some photos with her admirers before departing.
