Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon recently expressed concern over the deteriorating air quality in the national capital, Delhi. A Delhi native herself, Kriti urged authorities to take urgent action as the situation is “getting worse and worse.” She made the remarks during a press conference for her upcoming film Tere Ishk Mein.

The actor said, “I don’t think saying anything will help. It (pollution) is getting worse and worse. I am from Delhi, and I know what it used to be earlier, and it is getting worse. Something needs to be done to stop it; otherwise, it will reach a point where we won’t be able to see each other standing next to each other.”

On Sunday, Delhi-NCR residents woke up to a blanket of smog, with the air quality index (AQI) pegged at 559, Sunday, according to private tracker AQI.in. An AQI above 500 is generally referred to as in the ‘hazardous’ category.

At the press conference, Kriti Sanon also spoke about her Tere Ishk Mein co-star Dhanush and said, “I think Dhanush is an incredible actor. I have always been an admirer of his talent and his craft. I believe he has a very strong grasp of his craft. He’s very nuanced; he has also directed a lot of films, bringing a wealth of experience and understanding to scenes and how they will translate on screen.”

Director Aanand L Rai has described Tere Ishq Mein as a “spiritual sequel” to Raanjhanaa. The film, starring Kriti Sanon and Dhanush in the lead roles, is produced by Aanand, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar. AR Rahman has composed the music, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Tere Ishq Mein is set for a theatrical release in Hindi and Tamil on November 28.
