After divorce with Karisma Kapoor, ex Sunjay Kapur bought bonds worth Rs 14 crore for their children, gave her ownership of a house

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur got married back in 2003 in a lavish ceremony. The couple shared two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. In 2014, they decided to part ways, and their divorce was finalised by 2016. During the proceedings, the courts saw fit to give custody of the children to Karisma and granted visitation rights to Sunjay, while the Supreme Court also quashed a previously filed FIR by Karisma.

Although the couple had initially moved for a mutual consent divorce at the start of the proceedings, things quickly turned sour when disagreements about their assets and the custody of children became a topic of contention. As the divorce moved towards completion, Sunjay decided to make certain financial decisions to ensure his contribution in the lives of his children. ANI reported that he bought bonds worth Rs 14 crore for both the children with an interest payment of Rs 10 lakh. During the asset allotment, Karisma was also given ownership of a house owned by Sunjay Kapur’s father.

Sunjay married model and actor Priya Sachdev a year later. She already had a daughter from her previous marriage. The couple later had a kid themselves, a boy named Azarius. According to reports, Karisma and Sunjay maintained a healthy and respectful relationship with each other after their divorce. The couple also celebrated their daughter Samaira’s 18th birthday together, and Sachdev also attended the party along with her children.

Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12. The businessperson passed away due to a heart attack while playing a match of polo. During the match, the industrialist felt suffocated and requested a time-out; he had accidentally swallowed a bee, and he collapsed on the spot. Several attempts were made to revive him,. He was 53.

Sunjay Kapur was Chairman of automotive giant Sona Comstar. After his demise the company released a statement that read, “Sunjay was a visionary leader and a compassionate person whose guidance shaped Sona Comstar’s success. His vision, values, and dedication to excellence has left a lasting legacy for the Company. On behalf of Sona Comstar, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those influenced by his remarkable life.”
