Kareena Kapoor says Saif Ali Khan has a ‘crazy mind’, pushes her to take risks: ‘To get out of my zone and not listen to people’

Actor Kareena Kapoor says if there is an actor she would to for inspiration and advice, it would be her actor husband Saif Ali Khan, who she said has a “cinematic mind” and is passionate about the movies.

Kareena said Saif watches films of all kinds and what follows then is a discussion between the actors about film, their taste and thoughts. Kareena was speaking at the Film Companion actors round table, where the guests were asked about what questions would they ask to an Indian actor they admire.

Kareena said she doesn’t need to look too far as she lives with one of her most favourite actors, Saif. Kareena said the actor has been instrumental in pushing her to take risks with films like Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan and Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders.

“He is quite a cinematic mind himself because he watches a lot of movies and we discuss a lot of films. He is also quite pathbreaking because he is one of the first actors who went to the OTT platform with Sacred Games. He has quite a crazy mind as an actor. He has been a risk taker, he is wild in his thoughts, he reads a lot, watches a lot of actors’ interviews at 2 or 3 in the morning and I get irritated.

“He wakes me up to share how so and so international actor said this and then starts reading about it. So I don’t need to go too far. He sometimes pushes me, tell me, ‘I don’t think you should do this, do that na, work with Sujoy, Hansal, get out of that zone and don’t listen to people.’ We push each other and I respect that,” she added.

Kareena had a good 2023, where she made her digital debut with the Netflix thriller Jaane Jaan. In 2024, Kareena will have mixed bag of releases, ranging from UK-set The Buckingham Murders, which would be in English, followed by two commercial outings– The Crew, co-starring Tabu and Kriti Sanon and Singham Again.

Saif, meanwhile, was seen this year in the box office disaster and the critically panned Adipurush, in which he played the role of Lankesh. His next screen outing would be Jr NTR starrer Devara. The action drama is gearing for an April 2024 release.
