Kareena Kapoor says Aamir Khan was ‘shattered’ by Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure: ‘I feel Rupa has done more for me than Singham Again’
Kareena Kapoor Khan also recalled Aamir Khan's heartwarming response to her pregnancy news during Laal Singh Chaddha shoot.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has spoken candidly about the impact of Laal Singh Chaddha’s box office failure on her co-star Aamir Khan. According to Kareena, Aamir was deeply affected by the film’s underperformance at the box office.
During a round table interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kareena called Laal Singh Chadha “a beautiful and honest film,” and said, “You have such stalwarts like Aamir who believed in that film (Laal Singh Chaddha). He was shattered.” Bebo also recalled a conversation with Aamir at an event, where he jokingly said to her, “Picture nahi chali humari na, tu baat toh karegi na mujhse? (Our movie didn’t work. You will still talk to me, right?) I said, ‘We are actors. I am the most proud that you gave me Rupa.'”
The actor added, “I feel Rupa has done more for me than what a Singham (Again) can do.”
Kareena Kapoor also shared a personal anecdote about how she shared the news of her second pregnancy with Aamir Khan mid-way through Laal Singh Chaddha’s shooting. She had 60 per cent of filming when she revealed the news to Aamir. Encouraged by her husband Saif Ali Khan to share it, Kareena was overwhelmed by Aamir’s supportive response. She revealed that the actor-filmmaker said, “I’m happy for you. We’ll wait for you, and we’ll finish the movie together.”
Kareena expressed her gratitude for being a part of Laal Singh Chaddha, describing the film as a project that was made “with all heart.” “Everybody gave it their best, and we didn’t think it would hit Rs 500 crore. It was about the honesty of the story,” she shared.
Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, was considered a failure at the box office, grossing only around Rs 129 crore worldwide against its estimated production cost of Rs 180 crore. The film received mixed reviews, with some praising the performances and others criticising the storytelling and pacing. Additionally, its release coincided with the Boycott Bollywood trend on social media, which may have further impacted its box office performance. The film, however, received immense love once it started streaming on OTT.
