Kalki Koechlin, who will soon be seen in Made in Heaven Season 2, recently opened up about the trolls that came after her when she announced her pregnancy. Kalki and her partner Guy Hershberg welcomed their daughter Sappho in 2020. In a recent chat, when asked about the trolling that happened at the time because they were not married, Kalki said that it was a conscious decision on their part to not get married.

In a chat with Mashable India, Kalki said that she had already been married before to director Anurag Kashyap and her partner was not interested in marriage. She said, “Not being married…I was already divorced. He was like, ‘I’m not interested in marriage.’ So we just took a conscious decision not to marry but we were living together.”

Kalki and Guy welcomed their daughter in Goa and continue to live there, but Kalki frequently travels to Mumbai for work. The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor said that she tries to keep her visits short so she doesn’t have to stay away from her daughter for an extended period. In an earlier chat with The Times of India, Kalki said that her move to Goa was primarily motivated by the fact that she wanted her daughter to grow up in a place which is surrounded by greenery and has a lot of outdoor open space.

In the same chat, Kalki shared that she met Guy while on an all girls trip to Israel. He went to the same music school as one of her friends and he was one of their contacts while they were there. Kalki shared that even he travels for work but they both come back to Goa when not working.

Kalki will soon be seen in Goldfish with Deepti Naval. The film is a mother-daughter story where the daughter travels back to India when her mother is struggling with the onset of dementia. It is set to release in Indian theatres on August 25.
