Rumours, speculations, and blind gossip are probably three terms that are entwined in the lives of every celebrity in today’s digital age. Earlier, we could hide behind the reason that the lack of access to these stars resulted in such information being shared without evidence. However, it is shocking that it still continues to be a normal thing although most celebrities are as active as the average netizen. In this week’s edition of Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, the special guests were the Do Patti stars Kajol and Kriti Sanon. They were joined by actor Shaheer Shaikh and writer Kanika Dhillon. Responding to Kapil Sharma’s question about googling themselves, Kajol said, “I don’t have to search for it. Anything weird about me finds a way to reach me first.”

Talking about the weirdest rumour that has done the rounds, Kajol, without the blink of an eye, said, “Every 5-10 years, I am killed off.” This shocked the other guests of the show, who gave incredulous looks at Kajol’s nonchalance about such incidents. “Someone once called my mother (actor Tanuja) and said that the plane I was travelling had crashed. It was before the time of social media, and mom had to wait to get any credible information about the same,” explained Kajol.

She also said that such rumours weren’t just relegated to pre-social media era. “Even recently, there was a viral video that announced that I was dead. It is just sick,” said the actor, whose sentiments were echoed by her Do Patti co-star Kriti.

Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, Do Patti, which also stars Tanvi Azmi and Brijendra Kala, is currently streaming on Netflix. In her review of the movie, The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta wrote, “There’s enough in Kriti Sanon-Kajol film for a juicy, substantive drama. But the unpacking turns more into an unravelling, mainly because the writing is shallow, and the characters lack depth.”
