Kajol, who has been in the industry for three decades, said she cannot be Simran from her blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge again-- and she wants it that way.

Kajol says she is happy where she is in her life and at her age, where she doesn’t feel the need to be “young” again for the screen. Kajol, who has been in the industry for three decades, said she cannot be Simran from her blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge again– and she wants it that way.
In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, Kajol was asked her thoughts about ageism in the industry. The actor, who will be next seen as a lawyer in The Trial– Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha, said ageism is something that first needs to be fought mentally.
“Somewhere it exists in your own head which you have to get rid of. Once you get rid of… I like where I am today. I do not want to be 16 again. Sorry no offence to Simran, but I don’t want to wear a short skirt and a crop top and dance in the rain. I’m really happy playing Noyonika. She’s cool, she’s kickass and I really like her,” she said.
The Trial- Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha, Indian adaptation of The Good Wife, which starred Julianna Margulies in the lead role, marks the digital debut of Kajol. The actor was also asked to mention the name of an actress she thinks is underrated.
Kajol said an actor who she wished gets more “variety” of roles is Madhuri Dixit. “Somebody who is really, really underrated and hasn’t got the range (of roles) that she deserves is Madhuri actually.”
Directed by Suparn Varma, The Trial- Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from July 14. The show also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Sheeba Chaddha, Kubbra Sait and Alyy Khan among others.
