Jim Sarbh on how he measures success: ‘Will choose a world where no one asks me for a selfie but I keep getting exciting projects’
Jim Sarbh featured alongside Shefali Shah and Vir Das in the latest edition of Indian Express Adda on Monday. The actor shared his definition of success and expressed his wish to do substantial projects without having to navigate the burden of stardom.

Emmy nominee Jim Sarbh (Rocket Boys) sat down for a conversation with Anant Goenka, Executive Director, The Indian Express group, at the Express Adda on Monday, along with other Emmy nominees Shefali Shah (Delhi Crime 2) and Vir Das (Vir Das Landing). During the discussion, the actor shared his definition of success and expressed his wish to do substantial projects without having to navigate the burden of stardom.
Speaking about how he measures success, Jim said, “Personally how I would like to measure is whether I am getting another project that is really exciting to me. That’s what makes me happy and makes me want to keep going. If I am just going to panel discussions and award shows, I really have to struggle to be in a good mood. Where as if none of that happened… But I know that one feeds the other, I know that they are connected. I can’t pretend that they are separate. But if there is a world where no one is asking me for a selfie but I keep getting cast in projects that really excited me. I will choose that world. However, I know that they are inter-connected.”
Jim Sarbh has been nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Best Performance by an Actor for his role in the SonyLIV web series Rocket Boys. The acclaimed series, which had its season two premiere earlier this year, stars Jim as Homi Bhabha, credited as the “father of the Indian nuclear programme”.
Jim Sarbh first burst into the scene with his turn as the bad guy in Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja. The 2016 drama thriller made Jim a widely known name, as he earned massive acclaim for his performance in the film.
Two years later, the actor had another career defining milestone with two big releases, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat and Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. In the streaming space, Jim arrived with a splash in the highly successful Prime Video series Made in Heaven. His second show for the streamer was Four More Shots Please.
On the film front, Jim Sarbh featured in two theatrical releases post pandemic. He reunited with Bhansali for last year’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, drama headlined by Alia Bhatt, and followed it up with this year’s release, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, led by Rani Mukerji.
