Jawan box office collection day 8: Shah Rukh Khan-starrer steamrolls over Gadar 2’s chances of beating Pathaan, eyes Rs 700 crore worldwide
Jawan box office collection day 8: Shah Rukh Khan's film is expected to pass the coveted $100 million mark at the global box office by tomorrow, making it the second SRK-starrer of the year to do so.

Jawan will cross several important box office milestones in the next few days, as it enters its second weekend of release. Directed by Atlee, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has been on a rampage both in India and overseas, and the film doesn’t look like it’ll slow down any time soon. On day eight of release, Jawan box office collection stood at Rs 19 crore nett across all languages in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
This takes Jawan’s nett India total to Rs 345 crore, with the gross total standing at Rs 386 crore in India. The movie opened last Thursday to record-breaking numbers, netting Rs 75 crore on day one. This was the biggest single-day haul and the biggest opening in the history of Hindi movies. Jawan actually outdid itself a few days later, when it made Rs 80 crore on Sunday. It also broke the opening day and opening week records set by Shah Rukh’s own Pathaan earlier this year. Pathaan is still the biggest Hindi movie of all time in India, with a nett total of Rs 543 crore. Jawan is expected to break this record.
On day eight, Jawan reported a 20% occupancy for the Hindi language version, with Delhi-NCR and Mumbai once again leading the pack. Tamil and Telugu occupancy for the day stood at 14% and 20%, respectively.
Globally, Jawan box office collection passed the Rs 660 crore gross mark in seven days, according to Red Chillies Entertainment. This converts to around $80 million. Jawan is expected to hit the $100 million mark at the global box office on Saturday, making it Shah Rukh’s second film of the year to pass that coveted global milestone. Pathaan finished with $130 million at the global box office. According to Box Office Worldwide, Jawan was eying Rs 700 crore across its extended eight-day opening week.
Meanwhile, it looks like Gadar 2 will have to settle into the second (soon to be third spot) on the all-time list, just behind Pathaan. The movie passed the Rs 520 crore mark nett at the domestic box office, but is still around Rs 23 crore shy of Pathaan’s all-time record. It was steamrolled by Jawan, and maybe in a few days, we’ll have a chart with Shah Rukh Khan movies occupying the number one and number two positions.
