Jawan box office collection day 41: Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster extends lead over Pathaan by nearly Rs 100 crore, approaches Rs 1140 crore worldwide

The film has a string of box office records to its name; it delivered the top opening day, top opening weekend, and top opening week in Hindi movie history. Additionally, Jawan also became the first Hindi film to pass Rs 600 crore domestically, and the fastest to pass the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore and Rs 500 crore marks. Minus Dangal’s disproportionally large collections in China, it’s the biggest Hindi film ever by every metric.

But because Dangal did as well as it did in China, it’s still the top-grossing Indian and Bollywood film worldwide. Jawan is approaching the Rs 1140 mark globally, which puts it roughly Rs 90 crore ahead of Pathaan, and around Rs 75 crore shy of KGF: Chapter 2 on the all-time list. Directed by Atlee and co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, Jawan is currently the fifth-biggest Indian film in history at the global box office, behind KGF 2, RRR, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Dangal.

Over the course of its run, it has braved challenges of all shapes and sizes, but it finally seems like the time has come for it to pass over the baton to the next big Bollywood hit, and to relinquish the minimal foothold that it had in the South markets. This week will see the release of Ganapath and Leo, which are expected to dominate their respective regions. But Jawan’s contribution, along with Pathaan and Gadar 2, in bringing audiences back to theatres after the pandemic period will go down in history.
