Superstar Rajinikanth is famous not just for his on-screen charisma, but also for his off-screen humility, an instance of which Jackie Shroff recently shared. Shroff has worked with Rajinikanth in the upcoming film Jailer. Recalling his days on the set of Jailer, Shroff narrated how on a particular day, Rajinikanth realised that he hadn’t shared pleasantries with Shroff while leaving the set. So, he came all the way back from his car, braving a huge crowd, just to say bye.

Speaking to Film Companion recently, Shroff narrated, “We were shooting, and he wrapped the shoot. He thought I also wrapped and he went all the way down to his car. Then he realised and asked, ‘Where is Jackie?’ Someone told him, ‘He is shooting’. He came back. All the way from his car, back to me, which was a walk through the 500 people who were going ballistic. He came back just to say, ‘I wanted to say bye to you.'”

The actor was stunned at this gesture of Rajinikanth. “A man of his stature, he is Thalaiva, and him coming back to just say bye shows why he is Thalaiva. He has the heart of his mother,” added Shroff.

Jackie Shroff plays a negative role in Jailer and his look from the film was recently unveiled. Shroff has previously worked in the Rajinikanth-starrer 2014 animated action movie, Kochadaiiyaan, and in the 1987 film Uttar Dakshin. The two stars have been friends since then.

“It started with Uttar Dakshin, a film where Rajni sir played my younger brother. I realised what a lovely guy, what a simple man, what a big star, and how humble can one be. I think he is the humblest superstar in the world. He attended my wedding and I remember that visual of him at my wedding very distinctively. He is very close to me, he is my family, my soulmate. We don’t have to meet, our souls are connected,” Shroff talked fondly about Rajinikanth.

Shroff said that no matter after how long he meets Thalaiva, their love for each other is conveyed through eyes only.

Jailer is an actioner that marks Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with director Nelson Dilipkumar. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The cast also includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Malayalam actor Vinayakan, among others. Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar have cameos in the movie.
