Ever since rumours emerged that director Nitesh Tiwari is planning to adapt the Hindu epic Ramayana into a movie, moviegoers have been excited. The excitement doubled when news spread that Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi would be playing the lead roles. Despite a couple of photos purportedly leaked from the film’s sets surfacing online a few months ago — featuring Kapoor and Pallavi in costume and makeup seemingly for their roles in Ramayana — no official announcement about the project has been made yet, leaving many to still harbour doubts about the authenticity of the rumours.

Actor Indira Krishna has now shared enough information to finally confirm that the Ramayana movie is indeed real and in the making too. Confirming her association with the project and her role as Kaushalya, Krishna told Hindustan Times that she is bound by a strict confidentiality agreement and cannot disclose further details about her character or the project. However, she did not hesitate to heap praise on her Ramayana co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

“I hold Ranbir in high regard. I am yet to encounter anyone like him in this industry. He has this magnetic presence. He exudes care, love, and kindness. If you’re seated in a corner, he’ll make his way over to you, greet you, and ask about your day. Who does that these days? He’s a wonderful person,” said Krishna, who also had a small but important role in Kapoor’s last movie Animal.

“He puts everyone on set at ease. He has zero attitude. He’s not fake. In fact, he runs away from negativity and negative people. He doesn’t present himself as ‘the star’,” she added.
