(Image: Imran Khan/Instagram)Imran Khan, who is starting to get back to the limelight after a long sabbatical from the entertainment industry, recently opened up as to why he sold his Ferrari. Imran’s career was going through a high when he bought himself the car but after a while, he sold it.
In a chat with Mashable India, Imran shared that he “came into some money” when he was 28-29 and decided to buy himself a Ferrari. “And as a 28-year-old, you don’t know sh*t about how to drive these things,” he said and added, “It’s a lot more power and a lot more car than you can actually realistically handle. And I quickly figured that this car is bigger than me. I am not getting anywhere near the capabilities of this vehicle, which was kind of a thing of… you can have the bank and you can buy yourself a Lambo (Lamborghini) and drive around Bandra… So instead, I ditched those things and said iska maza nahi hai (this is not fun) and get a car that you can take to the edge.”
Imran said that he chose to drive something where he could control the car, instead of the other way around. “Between the car and me, I should not be the weak link. The Ferrari has more power than I can actually realistically handle I am likely to spin this thing out because of my inexperience,” he said.
A few years ago, Imran chose to live a minimalist lifestyle where he let go of his luxuries. Imran, as per an interview with Vogue, left his Pali Hill bunglow and moved into an apartment in Bandra, replaced his Ferrari with a Volkswagen and has only three plates, three forks, two coffee mugs and one frying pan in his kitchen. He also shared in a chat with Hindustan Times that he likes to take care of his daughter all by himself, without a nanny. Imran has joint custody of his daughter with ex-wife Avantika.
