Hariharan has given his voice to some of AR Rahman’s most popular melodies and the song that first brought them together was Roja’s “Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyara Hai”. But after watching the film, Hariharan was ‘disappointed’. In a recent interview, the veteran singer shared that he kept waiting for his song throughout Roja and wondered if it had been cut from the film.

He shared with Rajshri Unplugged, “I was very disappointed after watching Roja. I said it’s such a good song but it’s coming during the (closing) credits. People are leaving the theatre. I kept telling the people around me to stop and listen. Throughout the film, I kept wondering ‘where is my song? Has it been cut?'”

Hariharan acknowledged that Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyara Hai “got so popular” and achieved “tremendous” fame. He shared, “It’s a lullaby song and it’s a patriotic song.”

In another recent interview, even AR Rahman had expressed his disappointment after listening to the final mix of the Roja soundtrack. He told ETimes that he was “heartbroken” after listening to the soundtrack because “it had been badly mastered”. He said, “I remember, in the very beginning, I was so heartbroken when I heard my Roja soundtrack, when it came from the master. It was so badly mastered and then it had to go back 3-4 times but by the time the date came and we had to compromise and say okay…”
