Guddi Maruti addresses Govinda’s late arrivals on set, says ‘anyone who wants to sign him should have a strong heart’
In an interview, Guddi Maruti spoke about her experience working with yesteryear stars Govinda, Mamta Kulkarni and Divya Bharti.

Yesteryear comedy actor Guddi Maruti in a tell-all interview opened up about her journey and also revealed some secrets about the Bollywood stars from her time. She shared how Govinda used to always come late on set but would make up for it by being quick at his work. She also opened up about her bond with Divya Bharti and how Mamta Kulkarni gave her a cold shoulder treatment after a quote of hers was misinterpreted and published.
In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Guddi Maruti was asked whether female actors threw tantrums around her. She denied the same saying that given she was not a competition to them, she was never treated badly. She then went on to recall her time on Waqt Humara Hai set where Mamta Kulkarni did not behave cordially with her. “I had said something to a magazine that was misquoted. After that, she would give me cold treatment. It was so kiddish of her. Mamta, anyway was a little hoity-toity,” she shared.
Talking about Govinda, she said that his late arrival was a part and parcel with him. She shared that whoever signed him knew he would be late on set. “Producers would be worried but we would have fun. We would get ready and play cards on set while waiting for him. But I don’t think any producer had the guts to question him. Everyone was just used to it and would adjust,” Guddi Maruti said.
The actor added that it was not justified at any level but Govinda would make up for it by swiftly finishing his work. She added, “Jisne sign karna hai Govinda ko, dil strong hona chaiye (Anyone who wants to sign Govinda, needs to have a strong heart). He was known for that but pata nahi kya funda tha late aane ka (don’t know what made him come late).”
Remembering Divya Bharti fondly, Guddi Maruti shared that she went too soon. Calling her ‘pretty and mastikhor’, she added how the late actor would have a lot of fun, even with Govinda, who was a little shy in real life.
