Govinda hospitalised after shooting himself in the leg, daughter Tina says actor stable after undergoing surgery

Actor Govinda gets shot: Govinda is currently hospitalized at Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital. His wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina confirmed to indianexpress.com that the actor is stable and expected remain in ICU for 24 hours.

Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been hospitalised after injuring himself in the leg. The injury was caused by his own revolver. Govinda is currently hospitalized at CritiCare Hospital, and police are investigating the incident after seizing his weapon. According to reports, the accident took place at 4:45 am, when Govinda, 60, was getting ready to leave for Kolkata.

In a conversation with indianexpress.com, his wife Sunita Ahuja said that the actor was stable and is undergoing treatment. Sunita, who was not in Mumbai when the incident happened, said she is rushing to the city and will go directly to the hospital. Govindda’s nephew, comedian and actor Krushna Abhishek, who is in Australia at present, also said that the actor is recuperating and is stable now.

Govinda’s close aide Shashi Sinha confirmed that Govinda is fine. He told indianexpress.com, “He is out of danger and doing well. He was about to leave for Kolkata when the incident occurred. He was keeping his licensed revolver properly in the almirah when it fell on the ground. While handling the weapon, the bullet accidentally discharged. The injury is below the left knee. The bullet has now been removed. His daughter Tina is present at the hospital. He is talking to everyone and is doing alright.”

Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, told indianexpress.com, “I’m currently with papa in the ICU. I can’t talk much right now… but I want to assure that papa’s health is much better now. After the bullet injury, papa underwent surgery, and it was successful. All tests have been conducted by doctors, and the reports are good.”

“Papa will remain in the ICU for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, doctors will decide whether to keep papa in the ICU or not. Doctors are continuously monitoring papa’s condition; there’s no need to worry.”

The actor has not lodged any police complaint. Sources told indianexpress.com that the family is expected to release a statement about the incident.
