(Photo: Instagram/Gauri Khan)An important address in Mumbai lost much of its charm as Shah Rukh, along with his family, moved out of Mannat earlier this year. The house, which is a Grade III heritage site, has been the actor’s home for 24 years now and has gone through several modifications and tune-ups during that tenure. Now under the expertise of his wife Gauri Khan, who has made a name for herself as an interior designer, Mannat is getting two new floors.
She talked to News18 about the expected timeline for the project and also about various other endeavours that she has taken upon herself. Gauri admitted that the house is expected to be completed sometime around next year and couldn’t really zero in on a date. Apart from designing her own home, Gauri is now expanding her business with new offices in New Delhi as well. According to initial reports, Shah Rukh and Gauri have decided to add two new floors to the house, while the first actual change in the house was the nameplate beside the gate, which was changed from the bright diamond one to a more subtle brown and silver plate.
Shah Rukh Khan’s current home
While renovations go on, Shah Rukh and Gauri, along with Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan and AbRam, have shifted to a rented duplex in the Pali Hill area of Bandra. They have leased two apartments in Puja Casa, owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani, and the family is reportedly paying an exorbitant price of Rs 24 lakh. The family has also leased a Rs 1.25 lakh residence exclusively for their staff, and it is located in Pankaj Society, which is just 100 metres from their interim residence at Puja Casa.
History of Mannat
The iconic bungalow was bought by Shah Rukh back in 2001, and the original name for the house was Villa Vienna. After renaming it to Mannat, as the house symbolised an important checkpoint in his life and an important dream checked off the list, the 27000-square-foot home went through several upgrades. Designed by Gauri Khan and designer Kaif Faquih, the house boasts a state-of-the-art gym, a swimming pool, and an in-house theatre brimming with Bollywood memorabilia. Due to the cultural importance of the original Villa Vienna, the actor was not allowed to make any structural changes to it, and he decided to build a six-storey annexe at the back.
