Gadar 2 box office collection day 39: Sunny Deol movie is on its last legs
Gadar 2 box office collection day 39: Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 struggles to beat Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan's record.

Anil Sharma directorial Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles, had a great run at the box office. The sequel of Gadar is now on its last legs and struggling to cross the Rs 524 crore mark, which is the Hindi nett earnings of Pathaan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham starrer is currently the highest-grossing Hindi film.
According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Gadar 2 earned only Rs 60 lakh on Monday, taking the total collection to Rs 520.60 crore. The movie had an overall 12.77 % occupancy (early estimates) on September 18.
In an interview with India.com, Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma talked about his film possibly overtaking Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Sharma had said, “I don’t believe in numbers. Pathaan has done exceptionally well, even KGF (Chapter 2) did extremely well, and now, Gadar 2 is performing as well. Now, let’s see how far it goes, how far the public takes it. It is the public’s film. We have already crossed Rs 400 crore, it will reach Rs 500 crore mark in the coming week and maybe the Rs 1,000 crore mark at some point. So, we are not looking at numbers alone; we are trying to make a place in people’s hearts. People are watching it and loving it; that’s enough for us. Whatever (box office) numbers have come out today are real; there is nothing fake.”
Gadar 2 was released on August 11. The film saw a box office clash with Akshay Kumar-Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2.
The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her Gadar 2 review, “Watching Sunny Deol snarl, filling up one end of the screen to another, was total deja vu, taking me back to the time he did the same thing in the original Gadar, in which he single-handedly wrests his ‘dulhaniya’ away from the dastardly hands of her Pakistani father, played by Amrish Puri, who himself had a good line in snarls.”
