Fardeen Khan says he ‘wasn’t ready’ when he made debut with Prem Aggan, jokes that it was a ‘bad decision’ to become an actor

Fardeen Khan made his acting debut with the 1998 film Prem Aggan, produced and directed by his father, Feroz Khan. Fardeen’s acting in the film wasn’t well-received. Now, looking back, Fardeen said that he wasn’t ready for the movies at the time, and perhaps he should have worked at the craft a bit more before agreeing to lead such a costly venture. He also mentioned that acting wasn’t his first choice, and he actually wanted to be a filmmaker.

“Acting was not something I was very keen on, to be honest. It wasn’t my first choice,” he shared with Pinkvilla. Asked what he wanted to do instead, the actor said, “Filmmaking, actually. That was my first choice.” Fardeen then joked that it was “big mistake” to become an actor. The actor said that his father had been getting offers to launch him for a few years before he actually entered the movies, but finishing his education was very important to them both.

Talking about his college experience, Fardeen said that he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do in those days, but “acting wasn’t my first choice.” “But looking back, I am glad it happened the way it did,” he added. He said that when he returned from the US, Feroz Khan was putting Prem Aggan together. When it was suggested that he cast his own son in the film, Fardeen found himself leading the project without any preparation. The actor acknowledged that he wasn’t ready, and should have prepared more before facing the camera.

“In terms of experience, I definitely lacked it. My language wasn’t my strength. I was very raw in many ways, and when I look back, it’s something that I feel I should have given more time. I should have had more time to prep and practice and get some acting experience. I wish that I had that chance. I don’t think I was ready when I look back,” he said.

Fardeen stepped away from the movies in 2010, after appearing in the film Dulha Mil Gaya. He recently made a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi.
