When Farah Khan’s film Tees Maar Khan released in theatres back in 2010, it received negative reviews. However, the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer later found an audience, with fans growing fond of the film’s eccentricities, humour and over-the-top dialogues. Though the film was initially declared a flop, Farah Khan recently clarified that it actually performed decently well at the time. Farah reacted to a post titled “A flop movie that I secretly love”, which featured visuals from Tees Maar Khan. Taking to the comment section, she wrote, “Just for your knowledge, it made Rs 60 crore then! Not a flop… just ripped apart.” Recently, in her YouTube vlog, Farah visited producer Jackky Bhagnani and his wife, actor Rakul Preet Singh’s home, where she spoke about how many in Bollywood were pleased with the film’s failure. Earlier this year, Farah had also looked back at the aftermath of Tees Maar Khan and admitted that many in the industry were happy about its poor reception. She shared how the film has since become popular with Gen Z audiences, saying, “Tees Maar Khan is a legend with Gen Z. They don’t care for my other films. They think that (Tees Maar Khan) is the one.” https://www.reddit.com/r/BollyBlindsNGossip/comments/1nz9jx6/farah_khan_about_tees_maar_khans_box_office/?utm_source=embedv2&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_content=whitespace&embed_host_url=https://www.news18.com/movies/bollywood/farah-khan-says-tees-maar-khan-was-not-a-flop-just-ripped-apart-made-rs-60-crore-then-ws-kl-9617101.html She added, “I remember during Tees Maar Khan’s release, there was literally a celebration in the film industry. People whom I have worked with were like, ‘Abhi aayi na line par.’ In our industry, more than being happy for your success, people are happy for other people’s failure.” Farah also told Bombay Times that she was deeply affected by the criticism the film received and didn’t want to step out of her house after its release. “I still recall how Tees Maar Khan was ripped apart, and though people said a lot of things about it, the film made money. I’ve been a fighter and a survivor. After Tees Maar Khan, I didn’t want to step out,” she had said. Farah, who began her career in Bollywood as a choreographer, has helmed a few but memorable films as a director, including Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Happy New Year, and Tees Maar Khan.
