When Esha Deol offered a blood test to prove she wasn’t on drugs to mom Hema Malini: ‘I was so depressed, hurt’

Esha Deol said she was 'depressed, hurt' when rumours started circulating that she was doing drugs. She even offered to get her blood test done just so she could prove it to her mother Hema Malini.

Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s daughter Esha Deol grew up with the legacy of her parents and while there was no social media, or even paparazzi following her around town, Esha’s actions were closely monitored, no matter where she went. So when rumours started circulating that the golden child of one of Bollywood’s most powerful star couple was experimenting with a rather dangerous lifestyle, Esha was “depressed.”

In the early 2010s, rumours started circulating that Esha was experimenting with drugs, so much so that a few publications even went ahead and speculated that Esha might be heading to a rehab. The incident shocked Esha deeply as this was completely false. In Hema Malini’s biography titled ‘Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl’ by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, Esha shared this chapter of her life. Esha said that such was the impact of this accusation that she even offered to get her blood test done just so she could prove to her mother that she wasn’t doing drugs.

Esha Deol said, “I would like to say that I am dead against drugs and I have never touched it.” She further insisted, “When that article (about her being a drug addict) came out, I was so depressed and hurt that I told my mom she could get my blood test done to check.” Esha shared that she had never done anything to mar her parents’ reputation and said, “I would have never done anything that would put my parents to shame. Yes, I would party, I would have a few drinks with my friends, I had my share of fun and why not? That was the right age and time. At that age, everyone parties and drinks; the only issue was that I was in the public eye.”

Esha made her debut in the movies in 2002 with Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe. She has not been working actively in the film industry in the last few years. She was last seen in the 2023 web series Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega.
