Emergency box office collection day 5: Kangana Ranaut's historical drama continues her flop-streak at the box office. The actor hasn't delivered a hit in years.

Emergency box office collection day 5: Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency might have outdone her previous releases like Tejas and Dhaakad, but the film is still lagging far behind her rival Alia Bhatt’s Jigra. That film, directed by Vasan Bala, failed at the box office but managed to collect Rs 22.45 crore in its first week of release. Kangana Ranaut’s film, which released on January 17, has only earned Rs 12.4 crore in five days. The film saw an improvement in its numbers on day two and three, after opening at Rs 2.5 crore, but witnessed a significant drop on Monday, with its collections falling by 75 percent. Emergency earned just Rs 1.05 crore on Monday. On Tuesday, the film earned Rs 1 crore nett, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
By comparison, Jigra also witnessed a massive drop in collections after its first Monday. Alia was accused by T-series boss Bhushan Kumar’s wife, Divya Khossla, of having helped rig the collections of the film. Kangana had also taken a veiled dig at the film and Alia, “When you destroy woman-centric films and make sure that they don’t work, they don’t work, even when you make them. Read that again.” Kangana has made comments about Alia on several occasions in the past.
Emergency witnessed an overall occupancy of 7.09 percent on Tuesday, with a total of 2398 shows across India. It was released alongside Azaad, starring newcomers Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film has also been struggling at the box office. It has earned a total of Rs 5.75 crore in five days of its release, with its Tuesday collections dropping to Rs 55 lakh on Tuesday, according to Sacnilk.
Emergency stars Kangana in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and also marks her solo directorial debut. Apart from Kangana, the film also stars Mahima Choudhary, Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, and late actor Satish Kaushik. The film was first announced in 2022. It is produced by Kangana Ranaut under the banner Manikarnika Films.
