Dunki Drop 3 ‘Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se’ features soulful Sonu Nigam doing what he does best, Shah Rukh Khan calls it his ‘favourite’
The third 'drop' from the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki is a new song, titled "Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se," performed by Sonu Nigam, composed by Pritam, and written by Javed Akhtar.

Shah Rukh Khan on Friday ‘dropped’ the third piece of promotional material for his new film, Dunki. Fans have already seen a teaser for the movie, followed by a peppy number titled “Lutt Putt Gaya.” And now, they can soak in the sentimentality of Sonu Nigam’s vocals with the film’s second song, titled “Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se.” Sonu Nigam, once the foremost playback singers in Bollywood in the ’90s, became more selective in recent years, but has been slowly making a comeback to the mainstream, with numbers in films such as Laal Singh Chaddha, Shehzada and now Dunki.
The film’s soundtrack has been composed by Pritam. Lyrics for “Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se” have been penned by Javed Akhtar, and the song was first heard in the film’s teaser. It speaks about the journey that Shah Rukh Khan’s character and his friends go on in the film. Dunki tackles the subject of the mass migration of Indian youth to countries such as Canada and England. According to the press notes, the song adds “another layer of emotion” to the film, about the “heart-warming tale of four friends and their quest to reach foreign shores.” The song delves into the profound ache of yearning for one’s homeland, a sentiment that resonates deep within the hearts of those separated from their roots in pursuit of a brighter future.

Sharing the song, Shah Rukh wrote in Hindi on X, “Today I am sharing this song that came to my heart with you. Raju and Sonu seem like one of our own just by name. And this song which both of them have composed is also their own. It’s about our family members… It’s about our soil… It’s about finding solace in the arms of our country. Sometimes we all go away from our home… from the village… from the city… to make a life. But our hearts remain in our homes… in the country only. My favorite from Dunki.”
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-starring Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, Dunki is written by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon. The movie will be released in theatres on December 21.
