Actor-director Rajat Kapoor finds it disheartening that small but content-driven films are not given a chance to fairly compete at the box office.

Kapoor is best known for directing films like ‘Raghu Romeo’, ‘Mixed Doubles’, ‘Mithya’ and most recently old Delhi-based family drama ‘Ankho Dekhi’.

“I know the film did not do well and we all know the reason too. The film has not been given any chance to compete as disturbutors don’t have faith in us because there is no star. Movies like this are given a 4pm slot in Gurgaon. Even my friends cannot go to see,” Kapoor told PTI.

The actor-director was in the city to screen the film at the ongoing Habitat film festival here. Sharing his experience of watching the film with the audience, Kapor said he has seen more than 25 shows of ‘Ankho Dekhi’ with the audience.

“I come from theatre background. When we perform on stage, we can feel what the audience likes and what they don’t, this help us improve accordingly. The same things goes here too.”

The film, starring Sanjay Mishra, portrays the story of a man, who decides not to believe anything without seeing it.
