Diljit Dosanjh changes ‘GOAT’ lyrics as he debuts on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, announces global reach: ‘Hollywood vich jine star ne…’

Diljit Dosanjh made history as the first Punjabi artist to perform on the Jimmy Fallon show, singing his hit tracks "G.O.A.T" and "Born To Shine." The singer signed off with, 'Main hu Punjab'.

Diljit Dosanjh recently appeared on the popular The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. The singer/actor performed his hit tracks “G.O.A.T” and “Born To Shine” to a thrilled audience. Jimmy Fallon introduced Diljit as ‘the biggest Punjabi artist on the planet’ and asked fans to catch him on his ongoing Dil-Luminati music tour across North America.

Diljit appeared on stage dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, complete with a matching turban, pleated fan, and a shiny watch, embodying his cultural roots. After delivering his energetic performances, Diljit paused the music for a moment and sang the line “Mein hu Punjab” from his film Amar Singh Chamkila with Imtiaz Ali. Following Diljit’s captivating performance, an impressed Jimmy Fallon joined him on stage and exclaimed, “That is how you do it!” Diljit responded by playfully rolling his mustache in true Punjabi style. He also made a slight change to ‘GOAT’ lyrics, and pointed at Fallon while singing, “Hollywood vich jine stars hai unade vich baitha sardar goriye”. The earlier lyrics referred to Bollywood and Khans.

After having announced the news a week ago on his Instagram handle, Diljit Dosanjh had briefly talked about his plans and how he felt about his new achievement. Talking to Raj Shamani earlier, the actor-singer said, “I don’t know how I feel, I will maybe feel it when I am there. Let’s go see first what happens there. I have watched Jimmy Fallon show before. I am going there for a musical act, we will perform a song.”

He further added, “I haven’t yet thought about what song to perform. I will decide that onboard a plane to USA. I have a long list of shows I want to appear on. I have planned a lot of things, let’s see if I can achieve all that in this life. I just had one dream that I want to become extremely famous and become a singer. This kept growing and it happened. I was quite young when I had this in mind. I had a strong feeling about it and always prayed, ‘god, I don’t want to know anybody, but let the entire world know me’.”

Sharing the news on Instagram, Diljit wrote, “PANJABI AAGYE OYEE😎 This Week’s Guest.”

Diljit Dosanjh previously created history by becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform at Vancouver’s BC Place stadium in April. In 2023, the Punjabi actor-singer performed for a packed audience at Coachella, again creating history by becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform at the fest.
