Dilip Kumar was never interested in Hollywood: Saira Banu

Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu said, “Dilip saab was never interested in Hollywood. David Lean (director) was interested in signing Dilip saab for Lawrence of Arabia. But he didn’t do it.”

While today Indian actors are interested in crossing over to the west and proving their mettle there, thespian Dilip Kumar was someone who preferred to be satisfied with his stellar work in Indian cinema and never elicited any interest in working in Hollywood despite getting offers.

Saira Banu also shared about how Dilip Kumar could have shared screen space with the iconic Elizabeth Taylor. “They also wanted to make a movie on Taj Mahal with Elizabeth Taylor. But then has Dilip saab acted with Elizabeth Taylor then what would have happened to me. Where would have I gone then,” quipped Saira.
