Iconic actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi, who are starring in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, have created quite a stir with their kissing scene in the film. Apart from getting praise for being entertaining and delivering some great emotional moments, this particular kissing has become a talking point on social media. The veteran actor Dharmendra has now opened up about the same in an interview with Network 18.

When asked about the response to the kissing scene from the fans, Dharmendra said, “I am hearing that Shabana and I have surprised the audience with the kissing scene, and at the same time they have even applauded it. I think people weren’t expecting it and it came very suddenly which is why it created an impact. The last time I did a kissing scene was in Life In A Metro with Nafisa Ali and at that time too people had appreciated it.”

The He-man of Bollywood said that he and Shabana understood that the scene was essential for the film and wasn’t contrived. The scene involves the reunion of two lovers after years of separation. There were no awkward moments between the two while shooting the scene, according to the veteran, who said it was because director Karan Johar shot it aesthetically.

The 87-year-old actor also added, “I believe there is no age for romance.” And he also quipped “I always feel that I could have done better” with a laugh.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which marks the return of Karan Johar as director after a gap of seven years, has had a slow start at the box office, according to trade analysts. With Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the leads, the film also has Jaya Bachchan in an important role.
