Deepika Padukone: Difficult to find someone who understands your success
Deepika Padukone, rumoured to be dating her Padmavati co-star, Ranveer Singh for three years now, says it is not easy to find someone, who can handle their star partner's success. She says romantic relationships become more complicated than they already are once you reach the top.

One has often heard that distance in personal relationships is a price celebrities pay on their way to professional success. For them, handling friendships and dealing with companions is perhaps a bigger challenge than managing their film career, at least actor Deepika Padukone thinks so. One of the reigning Bollywood stars of today, Deepika says romantic relationships become more complicated than they already are once you reach the top.
Deepika Padukone, rumoured to be dating her Padmavati co-star, Ranveer Singh for three years now, says it is not easy to find someone, who can handle their star partner’s success.
Talking about losing many personal relationships on her nine-year journey to success in Bollywood, the actor says, “Some of my personal relationships have become stronger with time but I have seen some of my friends, who have distanced themselves from me. Some of my school friends have become much closer than before because we all make efforts to stay in touch.
“A lot of people could not handle the success that came my way and sort of disconnected. I am not upset about it. That’s just the way life goes. People who are closest to you and matter understand.”
Coming to her romantic relationships, Deepika Padukone candidly admitted that it is difficult to have a man, who would be okay to earn less than his partner.
“As far as romantic relationships are concerned, they are complicated because it is difficult to find someone, who understands your success and your passion for what you do. Someone who understands that maybe you earn more money (than him). It (at the top) is a complicated place to be in.”
Deepika made these remarks at the launch of veteran star Hema Malini’s biography Beyond the Dream Girl on Monday evening.
