David Beckham chats with Sara Ali Khan, discusses Victoria Beckham’s ‘working class’ comment: ‘I felt this is my moment’
During his conversation with Sara Ali Khan, David Beckham spoke about his Netflix documentary, titled Beckham, and shared the reason behind agreeing to do it.

Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan engaged in a conversation with the legendary footballer David Beckham at the Meta office in Mumbai. The two spoke about social responsibility and Bechkam’s life. A short video from their interaction has made its way on social media, where Sara is seen lauding Beckham for maintaining a perfect work-life balance and for never letting his stardom come in the way of his family life. Beckham also spoke about his Netflix documentary, titled Beckham, and shared the reason behind agreeing to do it.
In the clip, Sara said, “If one is as big a celebrity as you are, it could get difficult to be seen as a human being. There is so much glamour, there is so much pressure that sometimes it’s difficult to see who you are and I think for your family and children, there is this beautiful personal peace.” Beckham responded to Sara by saying, “Thank you for saying that and I don’t think it has been explained and talked about like this. It’s a perfect description.”
it’s insane how #SaraAliKhan can converse soo eloquently, both in English and Hindi. She got this confident, graceful, super intellectual and impactful demeanour, which always brings her out as a much better and wiser person than all others in the race. pic.twitter.com/wtXGx4KQMb

During his conversation with Sara, Beckham opened up about various aspects of his personal life. He revealed that though he became a successful football player, his parents didn’t stop working until their 70s. He said, “My mum was a hairdresser and she worked till she was 70 years old. She still cuts some old ladies’ hair. My father was a gas fitter and he also worked till he was 75. So they are hardworking people.
Speaking about his Netflix documentary he said, “I did a documentary with Victoria where she talked about being working class (laughs)… but the thing about that scene was that we were filming and Victoria never watched the stuff that I did and I didn’t watch what she did. So, I took my headphones on and I knew the stuff that she was going to say but then I felt that ‘this is my moment’ and it was quite a funny moment.”

Sharing the reason behind doing the documentary, Beckham said, “I retired from playing football ten years ago and people started talking to me about making my documentary at that time but I wasn’t ready to look back at that point. It took about 7-8 years to become ready to talk about it. Once we started talking about the documentary, we needed to find the right director, and after we found all the right pieces it took me 2.5 years to shoot the documentary. It was very hard going over my life and my career. There were very tough subjects and moments that I haven’t spoken about. But the reason I did the documentary was for my family so that they had something in one place to look at and be proud of. “
