Vicky Kaushal‘s much-awaited Chhaava hit the screens last Friday, and it has given a much-needed boost to the actor’s career. The Laxman Utekar-directed historical drama is showing no signs of slowing down with the collections of the film improving every day. Even as the movie is continuing to run to packed houses, clips from the film have managed to reach social media. One such video was the climactic sequence that features a bloody and bruised Vicky in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
The video went viral on social media with many praising Vicky’s intricate performance, and Akshaye Khanna’s menacing turn as Aurangzeb. Another aspect that got discussed extensively was the makeup of Vicky, whose performance was elevated by the bruises and blood that looked scarily real.
Sharing a few behind-the-scenes images of Vicky as Sambhaji Maharaj in the final act, Preetisheel Singh, whose Da Makeup Lab were in charge of this transformation, wrote, “Bloodied, Yet Undefeated: The Eternal Spirit of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.”
Incidentally, Vicky Kaushal has undergone such extensive prosthetic makeup for the first time in his career. Sharing a few more pictures, Preetisheel wrote, “Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj: when life gave him enemies, he gave them nightmares! #BTS of our work on Chhaava with Vickey Kaushal, who tackled his first major prosthetic transformation with the courage of a true lion.” She also shared an extreme closeup of his bruised and battered face, and wrote, “Torture tested, warrior approved!”
