Chhaava box office collection day 23: Laxman Utekar's period drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead, continues to march on at the box office. Its Hindi version is benefitting from the lack of competition in the market, while its Telugu version is also making its presence felt in the Telugu-speaking states. In fact, the total collection of Chhaava, across both languages, on Saturday was almost the double of that on Friday. On Friday, Chhaava earned Rs 6.25 crore in Hindi and Rs 2.5 crore as the opening day collection for its Telugu version. The Telugu version helped amp up the film's performance on Friday, day 22 since its release, to Rs 8.75 crore. On Saturday, the Hindi version earned Rs 13.5 crore. With its latest achievement, Chhaava has now entered the prestigious Rs 500 crore club, which already has the likes of Sukumar's 2024 action entertainer Pushpa 2: The Rule, Atlee's 2023 action thriller Jawan, Amar Kaushik's 2024 horror comedy Stree 2, Anil Sharma's 2023 action drama Gadar 2, Siddharth Anand's 2023 spy thriller Pathaan, SS Rajamouli's 2017 action fantasy Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 2023 family crime drama Animal. While the Hindi version of Chhaava (Rs 503.3 crore) has already surpassed the collection of Animal (Rs 502.98 crore), Animal's total box office collection across languages stands at much higher. It earned Rs 553.87 crore in its run of eight weeks, majorly benefitting from its Telugu collection of Rs 45.14 crore, and mildly aided by its release in other languages, including Tamil (Rs 4.91 crore), Kannada (Rs 0.6 crore), and Malayalam (Rs 0.24 crore). With no major Hindi film release in sight, Chhaava could very well continue to dominate the box office and challenge not only Animal, but all the other fellow entrants of the Rs 500 crore club. The next key competition for Chhaava in the Hindi belt will be from AR Murugadoss' action entertainer Sikandar, starring Salman Khan in the lead role. Releasing on March 28, on the occasion of Eid, Salman's Sikandar is likely to take over the box office at the end of this month. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna, who is also the leading lady in Chhaava.
