The highly anticipated horror-comedy sequel, Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao continues its box office takeover. The horror comedy film, directed by Amar Kaushik, has been in cinemas for four weeks now and the countdown is on for it emerging as the biggest Hindi films grosser of all times. The film, also starring Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, has been a crowd favorite, with audiences thronging theaters to experience the magic once again.

According to early estimates by industry tracking website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 3 crore on Tuesday, day 27 of release, taking Stree 2’s domestic nett collection to Rs 533.50 crore. The film saw a good start to week four in cinemas as it raked in Rs 11 crore on its fourth Sunday and Rs 8.5 crore on its fourth Saturday, giving it a good jump over the weekend. The worldwide gross box office collection of Stree 2 stands at Rs 777 crore, as per Bollywood Hungama.

With Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency being delayed at the last minute, Stree 2 will have a free run in theatres until Kareena Kapoor’s The Buckingham Murders debuts in theatres on September 13. Stree 2 has had a mostly uncontested run, despite having debuted alongside the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa.

With no other new Hindi film running in cinemas, Stree 2 has maintained its momentum in terms of footfall in theatres as the film observed an overall occupancy of 12.37 percent. As the movie is set to complete a month in cinemas, the film’s theatrical presence has seen a minor decline, marked by a decrease in the frequency of showtimes at cinemas. In Mumbai, with 739 the occupancy was 14.25 percent. In Delhi and NCR there were 1082 shows with the occupancy was 12.50 percent.

The worldwide total collections of Stree 2 now stands at Rs 533.50 crore, making it the second highest grossing film of all time and beating the box office records of films like Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 (Rs 525 crore) and the Hindi collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan’s (Rs 524 crore). The film has now begun its journey to chase the Hindi nett of SRK’s Jawan (Rs 582 crore), as per industry tracking website Sacnilk.

The horror-comedy will soon catch up with Jawan, and even outperformed it during the fourth weekend. The film’s performance at the box office and the kind of love it has received from the audiences has catapulted Stree 2 to the top, making it a strong contender in the current box office landscape.
