Chandramukhi 2 box office collection day 9: Kangana Ranaut’s horror comedy poised to hit Rs 50 crore worldwide gross mark
Chandramukhi 2 box office collection day 9: Kangana Ranaut's horror comedy is facing sharp competiton by Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj, and Bhumi Pednekar and Shehnaaz GIll's ensemble comedy Thank You for Coming.

After performing decently for eight days in cinemas, Kangana Ranaut‘s Chandramukhi 2 saw a dip in its box office collection on day nine, its second Friday. However, the sequel to Rajinikanth and Jyothika’s Chandramukhi (2005) continued to deliver a reasonable performance in its target territory of Tamil Nadu.
According to Bollywoodmoviereviews.com, director P Vasu’s horror comedy, also starring Raghava Lawrence, made Rs 65 lakh across all languages on day nine of release. The film’s total box office collection stands at Rs 49.65 crore gross worldwide. The film is expected to conclude its run in the next few days.
According to the trade tracking website, the film had a decent opening of Rs 12.25 crore gross worldwide, but its performance in the Hindi belt has been negligible. It was further impacted this week by newly released films such as Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra’s Mission Raniganj, and Bhumi Pednekar and Shehnaaz Gill’s ensemble comedy Thank You for Coming.
While Chandramukhi 2 has not performed as well as other Tamil films this year, it has turned out to be a minor comeback for Kangana, as many of her most recent releases, such as Dhaakad (2022) and Thalaivii (2021), all bombed. According to Bollywood Hungama, the action-spy film Dhaakad concluded its run with just Rs 2.58 crore. Thalaivii, on the other hand, was a biopic of Indian actress-politician J Jayalalithaa. The film’s lifetime global earnings were less than Rs 5 crore.
Kangana will next be seen in Tejas, a film based on the life of Tejas Gill, an Indian Air Force pilot. Tejas is written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
